The wealth of the Alsace vineyard shows through its numerous Lieu-Dit and Grands Crus which form a real mosaic of terroirs.
The nature of the soil and subsoil, its aspect, the slope, the wind, everything converges to give the resulting wines their own stamp and a unique character.
A new system for regulating lieux-dits wines is currently being defined.
Riesling Sonnenberg : (Lieu-dit Sonnenberg)
|Pinot Gris Cuvée Justin : (Lieu-dit Sonnenberg)
This cuvée was first produced in the year when Justin, Maurice’s grandson, was born. The grapes come from the terraced parcels of the Lieu-dit Sonnenberg.
The grapes are harvested when fully ripe and the wine is fermented in oak barrels. It is aged on lees for 9 months.
The elegance of the Pinot Gris pleasantly blended with the tannic structure provided by the oak gives rise to a wine with earthy and vanilla aromas. On the palate it gives an impression of strength and richness with a long and structured finish.
A gastronomic wine, it is best paired with foie gras, white meats or fish cooked in a sauce.
|Cuvée Harmonie « R » (Grand Cru Rangen de Thann) :
“From things that differ comes the most beautiful harmony” Heraclitus
It is exactly this spirit in which the complantation of Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer brings to the fore the virtues of this magnificent terroir of volcanic rock on which this cuvée is produced:
Le Grand Cru Rangen de Thann.
Cultivated using the traditions of our ancestors with a high planting density, the different wines are randomly mixed in the parcel. The soil is ploughed with the assistance of a winch, we do not use any pesticides and we harvest the grapes from this very steep vineyard when they are perfectly ripe.
Vigorous and mineral, this natural extract of the rock is best enjoyed young served with fish or white meat (chicken thigh with morel mushrooms).
|Pinot Noir aged in oak :
This cuvée results from a selection of our oldest Pinot Noir parcels situated on the granite terroir of Ammerschwihr.
After 10 days of maceration, this wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels previously used for two vintages.
Red fruit notes on the nose underlined by a touch of vanilla, structured and dense on the palate, this Pinot Noir has the strength to accompany red meats or game.
|Pinot Noir Cuvée Arthur : (lieu-dit Vogelgarten)
This cuvée was first harvested in the year when Arthur, Maurice’s grandson, was born.
Composed of two parcels of Pinot Noir planted on the marl-limestone terroir of the Lieu-dit Vogelgarten in Sigolsheim situated between the Furstentum Grand Cru and the Mambourg Grand Cru.
The less fertile soil and old vine produce small bunches of perfectly mature grapes.
Sorted, stemmed and vinified in a tapered vat for 10 days, this Pinot Noir is then aged in new oak barrels for 12 months. After a long period spent in our cellars, this wine offers a lovely purple colour which unveils intense and complex aromas on the nose. Both dense and balanced on the palate, with a smooth finish you can serve this wine with game and certain cheeses.
